Trusting Technology Is a Good Thing But, Understanding It Is Way More Important!
“Any unlawful act where the computer or communication device
or computer network is used to commit or facilitate the commission of a crime.”
- Govt. of India
In other words, a crime or criminal activity committed with
the utilization of the computer, communication device, or the internet is termed
as cybercrime and the people who administer such activities are unethical
hackers or cybercriminals.
With the advancing of internet and data sharing, it is vital to keep the user’s data and connections free from all the malware, data loss, alteration and destruction.
Here comes the role of Cyber Security. To protect the network, information, devices, programs, and data from the attacks, damage and unauthorized access collectively known as cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is also active in hampering attacks that aim to disable or disrupt a system's or device's operations. Strong and capable cybersecurity can provide quality protection against unwanted accesses; loss, alter or damage of sensitive data and cyber-crime.
Number
of cyber-crimes reported across India from 2012 to 2019 -
2019 saw a significant jump in cyber-crimes reported in India. That
year, over 44.5 thousand cyber-crime incidents were registered. Karnataka and
Uttar Pradesh accounted for the highest share during the measured time.
Hence, we can conclude by saying that more skilled workers in
cybersecurity would help the world for cybercrimes. Every domain/individual
should realize and understand the threat and danger that they can face and take
action accordingly. More initiatives are needed to spread awareness of
cybercrimes. The youth should understand the seriousness and develop their
interests in this field and create a strong cybersecurity professional
background to reduce the cybercrimes
